Having FUN for YOUR health!

Having FUN for YOUR health!

If you are reading this by connecting to my Facebook page, I have WordPress post this automatically when I post it. I am taking a few days and praying for wisdom and direction. If you want to connect to me, please send me a private message. I will receive it.

If we are to truly walk in divine health, it is critical that we have fun. One of the reasons that children, typically, don’t get illnesses such as ulcers is that they get out and have fun. The healthiest adults I know follow this principle too. They get out and have fun. I’ve spoken about the Lavalicious Lifestyle before. And one of the reasons I am so attracted to this lifestyle is because it is fun.

It means that you are working but having an element of fun with it. One of my favorite movies is Mary Poppins. I love the scene where Mary Poppins is having Jane and Michael Banks clean up their room. Here is a link to that scene: Mary Poppins: A Spoon Full of Sugar. In this scene, the room gets cleaned up, but it is fun too.

Reggie Cochran has told me that he has had fun and working on cruise ships, golf courses, and many other places. He doesn’t choose having an income or having fun. He has fun doing what he loves and makes a living doing it.

Maybe you have a job you can’t stand. But you do it anyway. What can you do? One, you can change your career. Unless you live in a country where you are told what to do for a living, that is an option. Maybe you need additional training. Go out and get it. Two, you can find a way to put joy into your job. Find something you like about it and focus on that. Three, change to a different position within your company. The key is: make a change.

Here’s your challenge: find a way to make fun an active part of your life.

Connection of fear to disease!

Connection of fear to disease!

If you are reading this by connecting to my Facebook page, I have WordPress post this automatically when I post it. I am taking a few days and praying for wisdom and direction. If you want to connect to me, please send me a private message. I will receive it.

Fear can cause illness! This has been confirmed in science! It can weaken your immune system, cause cardiovascular damage, ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome, and decreased fertility.

Consequences of long-term fear can be:

  • Fatigue
  • Inflammation
  • Yellow fat accumulation (which is the dangerous type of fat)
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Clinical depression
  • Accelerated aging
  • Premature death

What can you do?

  1. Recognize that it is there, but then take steps to deal with it!
  2. Find things to be joyful about.
  3. Speak positive things and don’t allow fear to remain.
  4. Sleep!
  5. Learn to be assertive. And when people say things that upset you: tell them and don’t allow it to continue. If they continue to upset you, then you may need to make the decision to limit their contact in your live.
  6. Exercise: martial arts, yoga, walking, swimming. All these are great for coping with fear.
  7. Nutrients:
    1. vitamin b
    2. glutathione enhancer.
    3. Add magnesium
    4. folic acid
    5. Vitamin C
    6. Magnolia bark
    7. Phosphatidylserine
    8. Phytosterols
    9. Adaptogenic herbs (connect to me to find out what would help)
    10. 5-HTP
    11. L-theanine
  8. Follow a heathy diet. Consider Dr. Colbert’s Keto Zone Diet that I’ve discussed. By reducing inflammation, you are taking an additional step to being healthy which helps you be more proactive in dealing with stress and fear.

Be blessed.

Start with JOY!

Start with JOY!

If you want your day to start off on the right foot you need to start with joy! Many people say to themselves “I don’t have time!” Or something along those lines. Well, it doesn’t take long to do. Maybe 15 minutes. And it’s simple! And you just do 2 things.

  1. Gratitude journal
  2. Affirmations!

A gratitude journal is where you take a piece of paper (or a notebook) and write down 10 things you are thankful for. That’s it!

Affirmations are simple too! Just speak life over yourself. Here’s an example from my own affirmations, now these are specific to me. But you can adapt them to fit your own goals & dreams.

Daily Affirmations
I am focused
I am successful at all I do
I am a great writer
I am doing all I set my mind to accomplish in record time because I am focused and determined
My life is going the right direction
I am a successful speaker
People respect me
People want to hear me speak and request me by name
My life is a dream come true
My life is an example to others as to what is possible.
I am walking in divine health
I am full of energy
I am a black belt in the Chuck Norris System
I am drawing successful people to me because I am successful myself
I am living the Lavalicious Lifestyle
I am walking in abundance
Every need I have is met in abundance!

I memorize with ease.

Some of these things are a work in progress. Such as reaching black belt, but by speaking this aloud it sets things in motion that will help me see it become a reality. Unless you speak what you desire, it may happen: but it will be luck. But if you speak life over what you want: it will come to pass. Sometime rapidly, sometimes slowly.

The Power of One Motivational Group

I am a part of Optimist International in the Urbandale, Iowa group. On Saturday we did an Easter Egg Hunt for children. Later that day my friends Jim Boyd, Jim’s wife Judy, our local president, Sue Wunsch and a new member named Amber traveled to Williamsburg, about a 2-hour drive from Des Moines for an awards banquet. The picture below is one of myself on the left and the 2016-17 President Jim Kondrasuk on the right.

Here are a few pictures from the Easter Egg Hunt, which was held at Olmsted Elementary School in Urbandale, Iowa.

Optimist International has a Creed that is wonderful. We speak it aloud at every meeting.

The Optimist Creed

Promise Yourself

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

Can we imagine a world that lives like this? This is the power of ONE group. Optimist International is a group that is focused on changing and improving the lives of children. We create and do programs that are set up to help children and youth. We even have what is called Junior Optimists International.

One person, one group, one question, one promise: it can change your world.

The Power of One

The Power of One

I’m talking about this on my live broadcasts on Facebook this week too. So, jump on Facebook and watch them there too.

I want to share a poem today that is one of my favorites. The author is unknown.

One smile begins a friendship,

One handclasp lifts a soul,

One star can guide a ship home,

One word can frame a goal.

One vote can change a nation,

One sunbeam lights a room,

One candle wipes out darkness,

One laugh will conquer gloom.

One step must start each journey,

One word must start each prayer,

One hope will raise our spirits,

One touch can show you care.

One voice can speak with wisdom,

One heart can know what’s true.

One life can make a difference,

You see it’s up to you.

Enough said. For today.

HELP! I’m too exhausted to exercise!

HELP! I’m too exhausted to exercise!

(Exhaustion, part 2)

I was exhausted from 2009 through 2014! Even through the early part of my own recovery! And exhaustion made exercising impossible! I was in one of those seasons of life that my own body was telling me to just stop! Walking across the living room (a total of 3-5 feet) was exhausting. Doing laundry was nearly impossible. Caring for my family was impossible. All I wanted to do was sleep. I had to get some help.

Yesterday I made some suggestions on what to do for this on your diet. Today, what can you do physically. This will be continued tomorrow.

  1. Build rest into your day. I realize this may be hard, especially if you are working full-time, have kids, homeschool, or anything along those lines. Take a yoga class and participate twice a week.
  2. Take 2-20-minute rest breaks a day. These are not naps! This a time out to get alone and breath and restore.
  3. Change your perspective. Begin a gratitude journal. Find positive things in life. Laugh! Do something fun every day. Minimize stress.

Modify your lifestyle!

  1. Eat food on a regular cycle
  2. Exercise, but don’t run! High heart rate is hard on the adrenals.
  3. AVOID negative people and self-talk! This is hard, but it is critical!
  4. Take time for yourself and do something relaxing. Go to a bookstore and relax with a cup of tea (NO CAFFEINE!).
  5. Seek counsel. Get some help.
  6. Start a home-based business that is easy to do. Have it be something you are already interested in. Do you write? Start a blog. Are you interested in wellness? Look at network marketing business focused on wellness. Are you good at organizing? Talk about it. But the key in this is keep it simple, and fun!
  7. Add a full-body massage 2-3 times a week. This will raise serotonin and dopamine levels and decrease cortisol levels.
  8. Get to bed by 11 and sleep 8-10 hours. Get a Garmin or Helo band to measure your sleep patterns. I will rarely tell specific brands on here. But occasionally I will. 😊
  9. Listen to what I call power songs first thing in the morning to help you get your day started off right. These are songs that get you excited about the day.

Tomorrow will be the role that martial arts has played in my recovery. And how to incorporate it into your life. As well as how via the internet you can do it on your schedule whenever is convenient for you.

(How to address it in your life)

First, I want to let you know that if I get enough interest, I can teach about what I’m going to address on this via a webinar that would take about an hour. I got this question yesterday via private message after my live broadcast on Facebook.

First, I get it! It’s what started me on the journey I’m on. So, I’m going to tell what I did that worked. And since I did several things, I am going to take a few days to address it. Today, what diet changes can help. Tomorrow and Saturday, activities I started participating in and Sunday, the role faith plays.

First, what to eat or avoid. I highly recommend pea protein since it contains all 9 essential amino acids your body needs to recover from burn out. When you are preparing your foods, keep the temperature below 120ºF to keep your adrenal glands from being further drained. Add extra virgin olive oil, butter, and coconut oil to your soups and smoothies. Margarine, soy and modified oils MUST go. Add nutrient dense foods. Including coconut, olives, avocado, cruciferous vegetables, fatty fish, chicken & turkey. Nuts, such as walnuts & almonds. Seeds such as pumpkin, chia & flax. Celtic or Himalayan sea salt, brightly colored vegetables. High quality carbohydrates such as quinoa, lentils and buckwheat. The things I recommend you avoid are caffeine, sugar (honey or stevia are okay), processed and microwaved foods and hydrogenated oils.

Next, cooked vs raw foods. Cooked foods are easier on the body than raw foods and serves the body well when you are drained physically, emotionally, and/or mentally. Beef, chicken, turkey cooked for about 6 hours is easier for the body to digest. And is a good source of protein. I highly recommend you switch to grass fed meats. According to Dr. Don Colbert in his new book Dr. Colbert’s Keto Zone Diet, “Grass-fed meats, I later learned, are much healthier than grain-fed meats. In fact, grass-fed meats have more of all the healthy fats, minerals, and nutrients that our bodies need.” (Colbert, 11).

Third, supplements. Add type 2 hyaluronic acid and collagen. Also add a glutathione enhancer to boost your immune system and cool inflammation. Vitamin B-complex is a high need. Plus, fish oil, vitamin C, vitamin D, Selenium, Magnesium, and Zinc. Finally, add adaptogenic herbs for boosting adrenal function. On the type 2 hyaluronic acid & collagen, the glutathione enhancer and adaptogenic herbs, contact me directly so I can direct you to the ones I have used and know are effective. I have preferred brands on the others as well. My preferred brands on everything I suggest are backed by science. And can’t be purchased from your favorite superstore. By using products backed by science, you will see faster results and you will save money.
